Hydrogeology

On this page you will learn:

Are you considering the impact of your investment on groundwater? Are you seeking support in obtaining the necessary permits and well legalization? You are in the right place. Learn how we can help you navigate the entire process – from planning to the final construction and use.

What is hydrogeology?

Hydrogeology is the science that deals with groundwater. It includes various aspects such as:

  • Exploration of groundwater and thermal waters,
  • Determination of groundwater resources,
  • Analysis of groundwater quality,
  • Determination of the migration time of contaminants to groundwater.

This scientific field helps us understand how to care for valuable water resources, ensuring they can serve future generations. Through hydrogeology, we gain insights into the importance of sustainable use of groundwater, which is currently one of the purest sources of drinking water.

In short, hydrogeology is key to protecting one of our most precious resources – water.

Applications of Hydrogeology

Hydrogeology finds its application in:

  • Studying groundwater;
  • Recognizing groundwater in a given location;
  • Environmental protection from contaminants;
  • Planning and managing water resources.

Hydrogeological Services

In our range of hydrogeological services, we offer, among other things:

  • Water quality assessment,
  • Exploration of water sources,
  • Construction of groundwater intakes,
  • Groundwater flow modeling,
  • Assessment of threats related to groundwater contamination.

How to determine the depth of groundwater?

The State Geological Institute possesses archival geological data, such as maps and well profiles. A hydrogeologist can analyze this data to estimate the probable depth of the aquifer.

The document describes the anticipated depth of the aquifer, its thickness, water resources, water quality, and any potential need for water treatment.

How to check groundwater?

Groundwater refers to the subsurface water in the saturation zone, and its quality depends on the type of soil above it. Information about groundwater can be found on hydrogeological maps of Poland. However, for construction purposes, additional geological investigations are necessary to determine the groundwater level at the planned construction site.

If this knowledge is crucial for building, it should be supplemented with additional information from geological boreholes made in the vicinity of the proposed foundations. Only studies in the field of engineering geology provide a high degree of certainty about how the groundwater level is shaped in a given area.

Why choose r2eko?

We have specialists in hydrogeology, engineering geology, and raw material geology. We conduct site assessments for well construction and manage the entire administrative procedure until its final construction and use.

Successful projects and customer recommendations

One of our projects involved decommissioning two wells at a groundwater intake in Stargard and building two new wells to maintain a continuous water supply for the city’s residents.

Modern approach to hydrogeological issues

 It is worthwhile to initiate collaboration with hydrogeologists during the design phase. By analyzing archival data, our specialists can quickly provide crucial information about groundwater and construction conditions in the selected area.

We also handle the legalization of previously constructed wells. Often, investors are unaware of the numerous administrative requirements associated with well construction. Our company’s specialists can assist in addressing the legal aspects of existing wells, including obtaining water rights permits.

Collaboration Process

Each water intake is individually analyzed due to the complex hydrogeological and legal conditions in Poland. Depending on water needs, well depths, and location in relation to other intakes, different procedures for obtaining permits are applied.

Such analysis at the early stage of design provides information that allows estimating both the costs of constructing the water intake and the costs associated with obtaining the necessary administrative decisions.

Using our services will facilitate a more efficient implementation of the investment, avoiding unnecessary delays and increased costs.
